Showing one plot summary In 1898, Cassius ('The Cub') Delaney finds himself on an adventure straight out of a dime novel when he's given a try-out as a detective by Chicago's legendary Mahoney & Porter Investigative Agency. Mentored by Constantine Sherro, the agency's best (and worst) agent, the Cub finds himself up against a devious operative from the rival Pinkerton agency, and must choose what sort of a detective he will become. This short film is the fifth part of an 11-part mystery adventure, set between 1895 and 1905, about the mentor/protege relationship between Sherro and the Cub. Their tale, which roves all over the United States, unfolds through three short films interwoven with seven illustrated novels, culminating in a feature film that wraps up the whole adventure.

Colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Lukyanov, is going on vacation with his wife to a resort town, where his old friend, Major Alekseev, a local police officer, lives. When they meet, the old friends agree to catch up the next day, but Alekseev seems worried about something he needs to finish. That night, Alekseev goes on a mission alone, during which he is hit by a car. When Lukyanov hears about it, he offers his help to the local police as a private individual, feeling it is his duty to find out the circumstances of his friend's death. The colonel will have to determine whether it was a deliberate murder or an accident.

This darkly grotesque drama unfolds on multiple paths. The tangible one, now cruel, now crazy, along which the nomadic actor "Dad Mour", his wife "Mum" and two sons try to return home, but also the imaginary one, even more, tortuous and dusty, on which the often impressive mental youth (or immaturity, a scrooge might say) is welded with life circumstances forcing the protagonist to wise up. An anxious and exuberant cinematic faerie about love, the fear of loneliness and the gaze of sons fixed on their fathers.

The film was created in the genre of an anecdote, where it is about a grandfather from a Ukrainian village who painted wooden eggs and decided to send them to the "iron lady". At the post office workers told him: "You can't!". But the grandfather showed character, did not give up on the plan, and, overcoming many obstacles, still sent the parcel.
